Noticing increased thinning or shedding can indeed be a sign of hair loss. It’s important to get a proper diagnosis from a qualified healthcare professional to understand the nature of your hair loss and explore suitable treatment options. At Hair Science, we provide a variety of topical solutions to support hair health, including (Rx) Formulas 82M, 82F, 82D, and an (OTC) hair loss prevention shampoo, Formula 82S. It’s important to know that with the exception of Formula 82S, our products require a prescription and should only be used following a doctor’s guidance. Your doctor can advise if our products are appropriate for your particular condition, such as androgenic alopecia. People commonly encounter disappointment when they first start to address their hair loss. This is often due to factors such as choosing products that aren’t well-suited to their specific type of hair loss, and from not adhering to their prescribed regimen consistently. The effectiveness of hair restoration treatments can vary significantly, based on how they are used and on an individual’s unique hair health status. Consulting a hair restoration specialist can provide valuable insights into the most effective treatment plan for you. We encourage you to use our physician locator tool to find a Hair Science physician partner in your area to assist you in the process. As they can guide you in choosing and correctly implementing the right regrowth regimen to optimally improve your hair loss situation.

Formula 82M contains Minoxidil (5%) ,Tretinoin (.01%), and Fluocinolone Acetonide (.01%). Minoxidil is an active metabolite and vasodilator, that widens blood vessels and improves blood flow to hair follicles, that has been shown in studies to stimulate hair growth. It has been the #1 topical therapy for Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) in the US since receiving FDA approval for treating hair loss in 1988. Minoxidil does not act on androgen hormones, which means that it is generally safe for both men and women to use. This makes it an excellent option for people who are concerned about the potential hormonal side effects of other hair loss treatments.

Formula 82M comes in a non-sticky, propylene glycol-free base, and contains a topical steroid to improve efficacy and reduce irritation, complemented by other proprietary ingredients that improve its overall effectiveness, stability and usability versus most other compounded or Minoxidil-only formulas. It is available by prescription only in the United States and Canada, and can be prescribed by a physician who can assess your hair loss situation.

Formula 82F contains Minoxidil (5%), Tretinoin (.01%), Fluocinolone Acetonide (.01%), and Finasteride (.25%). Finasteride is a 5α-reductase inhibitor that works by decreasing the production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in tissues in the scalp that has been approved as a treatment for hair loss in the US since 1997. Formula 82F comes in a non-sticky, propylene glycol-free base, and contains a topical steroid to improve efficacy and reduce irritation, complemented by other proprietary ingredients that improve its overall effectiveness, stability and usability versus most other compounded or Finasteride-only formulas. It is a topical product, which greatly reduces the side effects commonly associated with orally-taken Finasteride, and is available by prescription only in the United States and Canada, and can be prescribed by a physician who can assess your hair loss situation.

Finasteride is not approved for hair loss in women and is generally available by prescription for men only. See (Minoxidil-based) Formula 82M for women.

Formula 82D contains Minoxidil (5%), Tretinoin (.01%), Fluocinolone Acetonide (.01%), and Dutasteride (.75%). Dutasteride is a 5α-reductase inhibitor that works by decreasing the production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in tissues in the scalp. It acts on both type 1 and type 2 of the 5α-reductase enzyme, and is markedly more efficacious than finasteride in the dual inhibition of DHT (~70% for Finasteride vs 90+% for Dutasteride). Formula 82D comes in a non-sticky, propylene glycol-free base, and contains a topical steroid to improve efficacy and reduce irritation, complemented by other proprietary ingredients that improve its overall effectiveness, stability and usability versus most other compounded or Dutasteride-only formulas. It is a topical product, which greatly reduces the side effects commonly associated with orally-taken Dutasteride, and is available by prescription only in the United States and Canada, and can be prescribed by a physician who can assess your hair loss situation.

Dutasteride is not approved for hair loss in women and is generally available by prescription for men only. See (Minoxidil-based) Formula 82M for women.

Formula 82S is a 3-in-1 (cleansing, conditioning, and anti-hair loss) product that strengthens hair fibers, restores soft, natural texture to damaged hair, and helps prevent hair loss. It’s a great choice for people who are undergoing hair restoration, as it contains an industry-leading level (2%) of Saw Palmetto, a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor shown in studies to reduce DHT, a leading cause of hair loss. Unlike lower-quality shampoos that contain sulfates, parabens, and silicone, which can damage new hair growth, Formula 82S uses gentle, natural cleansers and conditioning agents.

The Formula 82S difference comes from well-researched and proven ingredients specifically chosen to promote hair health, including the natural DHT-blocker, Saw Palmetto—and not the hype, oversold claims, and anecdotally supported ingredients found in many other hair loss shampoos. It is an excellent choice for people who want to soundly support healthy hair growth, and is an excellent complement to a daily regrowth regimen, such as one involving Formula 82M (for men and women), or Formulas 82F & 82D (for men only).
